VENETIAN SNARES

Aaron Funk a.k.a. Venetian Snares hails from Winnipeg in Canada. Since
his debut 12″ in 1999 he has become one of the most astonishing and
popular musicians working in the experimental electronic sphere
including Squarepusher, Aphex Twin and Boards Of Canada. His samples are
often so manipulated and mental they are nearly rendered
unrecognizable. Funk’s distinctive style reflects unconventional time
signatures and extremely rapid and erratic rhythms. Infamously
unpredictable and ever-challenging Mr. Funk never fails to blow minds
and keep blasting until the bitter end.

CHRIS LIBERATOR & STERLING MOSS

Chris Liberator and Sterling Moss have been collaborating over the last few years and have amassed a huge body of work together, releasing on all the major Techno & Acid labels in the SUF Collective in recent times, including: Stay Up Forever, Scythe Squadron, Corrosive, Cluster, Hive, Yolk, Wah Wah, Abusive 303, 99.9, Acid Corps and Maximum Minimum, as well as having releases on other labels such as: Sweet Peaks, Teknic, Polymeric, Bordelik, Braingravy and Neuroshocked. Recently they have supplemented this body of work with a series of high profile remixes, including a rework of the legendary ‘One Night In Hackney’, as well as Acid mixes for notable bands on the underground scene including: Sicknote, Tribazik and The Dice. This has taken their sound into newer territory, paving the way for work on their debut album, planned for release in the near future.

This prolific catalogue of music has lead them to formulate a unique live set which includes the latest and greatest tracks from their ever expanding catalogue, which they have performed in Australia, Brazil, Japan, Canada, Czech Republic, Spain, Finland and across the UK in recent times. The performance modulates between hard funky Techno and pure Acid Techno depending on the occasion!!

Last year Industrial Strength Records approached Chris & Sterling to work on a collection of unique sounds and loops. This culminated in the release of “The Sound Of London Acid Techno” – the first sample pack of it’s kind to be made available to producers. They have recently followed it up with “United Colours Of Techno”, a more techno orientated collection of loops & grooves.

They continue to perform as DJ’s across the world, and have been at the top of their game for over 20 years.

STYLE:
A live set of pure modern Acid Techno and / or hard funky Techno, with back-to-back DJ’ing also an option.

PRODUCTIONS:
Recent Stay Up Forever releases include 92, 95, 97 and most recently the notorious squat anthem “Croydon Girl” on SUF100 (Part 1) with Rackitt.

Releases on Cluster (87 & 90), Yolk (21), Scythe Squadron (07), Bordelik (01), Maximum Minimum (57 & 58), Corrosive (02) and Wah Wah (23) have made a big impact on the scene and cemented Chris & Sterling’s place as the leaders of the ‘new’ new wave of Acid Techno. More recently as The Wipeouts (with Aaron Liberator), they featured on the first Acid Corps release with a storming Punk-Techno remix after debuting on Wah Wah (24). Chris & Sterling also teamed up with Steve Mills for the widely acclaimed first Braingravy release, which is causing a stir across Europe.

Their Punk ethos has kept their political motivation at the forefront of their music, with tracks like “Punk Attitude” expressing their anarchist ideology. Feeling strongly about the recent anti-capitalist protests, they wrote the track “Fuck Capitalism (Want My Money Back!) for SUF Protest (03), with proceeds going to the Occupy movement.

PRODUCTION HIGHLIGHTS:
“Acid Techno Wah Wah” (Wah Wah), “Punk Attitude” (Scythe Squadron), “Massive Line” + “I’m Bored” (Stay Up Forever), “Croydon Girl” (SUF100), Scum Like Us Like Acid (Corrosive).

DID YOU KNOW?
Chris used to be a Punk and played in a classic Anarcho Punk band in the early 80’s (and is now playing again with them after 25 years!). Sterling actually worked as a programmer for Roland Japan on their MC909 Groovebox!!

CAN BE BOOKED:
As a LIVE ACT or Live Act / DJ combo & back-to-back as DJ’s.

GHOST (LIFE4LAND)

Kenny Parish, a musician and producer based in Cambridge, England is
one of the organizers of life4land. He has been a musician from a young
age, but has been composing and producing since 2000. Having a love for
music of all forms Ghost’s style draws influence from many sources, yet
has a consistent root in his love for hardware synths and intricate and
unorthodox breaks. He has an amazing natural gift for production and
song writing and is a man obsessed with the form and structure of music.

“Ghost writes music that sounds as though it were a chorus of angels
from a thousand aliens singing in their native tongue, backed by an
orchestra of machines and lazers straight out of a yet unwritten science
fiction novel, all conducted into glorious and controlled chaos by a
melancholic yet slightly sinister forty thousand foot space ape with a
giant black hole in the middle of his equally giant heart.”
